On 8 August 2009, H.E. Mr. Kitti Wasinondh, Thai ambassador to the UK and
his wife opened the 2nd Thai Festival at Greenwich Park in London, together
with Mr. Allan McCarthy, Mayor of Greenwich. The festival held during 8-9
August 2009 showcased various Thai cultural performances such as Thai
dances, both classical and contemporary, traditional small puppet play,
traditional Thai music, Thai boxing, as well as booths selling Thai foods,
products and handicrafts. Tourism Authority of Thailand in London also had
a booth to promote Thailand's tourist destinations. The event was attended
by around 10,000 Thais and locals from London and its vicinity during the
two days.
